Overview of Visualization Tools

Visualizing data makes it easier to view trends and associations between different fields. Different data fields and values can be analyzed, leading to more effective troubleshooting.

The following visualization tools are available:

Visualization dashboard

Create a dashboard of multiple views to analyze different fields, or different types of views simultaneously.

To create a dashboard
  1. Click on the new view required to be displayed.

  2. A blank, coloured screen will show. Move your mouse over this screen, which will highlight possible areas for display by changing the colour of that area.

  3. Click on the required area, and the configuration dialog for the view will show. After configuration, click [OK], and the new view will be displayed. Views bordering the new panel will be resized to accommodate the new panel.

Changing dashboard views

The dividing line between panels can be used to resize panels on the dashboard. Right clicking on the centre point of this dividing line shows a context menu with further options.

  • Resizing sections: click on the dividing line between panels and drag the line to create a panel of the required size.

  • Locking / unlocking a panel:

    • Lock: The context menu gives the option to lock the size of a panel. When additional views are added to the dashboard, the locked panels will not resize to accommodate them.

    • Unlock: The context menu gives the option to unlock the panel. When additional views are added to the dashboard, the panels will resize to accommodate them.

  • Removing panels: The context menu gives the option to close either the left or the right panel. This will remove the selected view.

  • Swapping panels: The context menu gives the option to swap panels. This will swap the positions of two neighbouring views.

Saving the dashboard

Saving the dashboard saves time and effort when viewing your project again at a later time. It also enables sharing of important views between colleagues.

To save the dashboard:

  • Save the project by clicking: File > Save Project As... > Specify a file name and select the location for saving. The project will be saved as a .csa (Continuous Troubleshooter) or .csd (Discrete & Batch Troubleshooter) file.

  • When opening the project again, the saved Visualization dashboard will shown.

  • Send the .csa or .csd file to colleagues to share the saved data visualization dashboard.

This will hide the panel at the bottom of the canvas. Click the blocks to show the panel again.
